Finance statistics of social assistance in the broader sense: results 2016 - Social assistance expenditure increased by 3.9% in 2016

Neuchâtel, 22.03.2018 - (FSO) – In 2016 expenditure on social assistance in the narrow sense rose in nominal terms by 3.9% to CHF 2.7 billion. In 2015 the increase was 2.1% and in 2014 it was 5.6%. As in the previous year, the growth in expenditure is partly explained by the increasing number of social assistance recipients. The average expenditure per recipient in 2016 was CHF 9961 –an increase of 1.0%. These are the latest findings from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
