Population size 2014: provisional figures – An increasingly growing and ageing population

Neuchâtel, 23.04.2015 - (FSO) - At the end of 2014, Switzerland's permanent resident population was 8,236,600, i.e. an increase of 96,900 persons (+1.2%) compared with 2013. Currently in Switzerland, one in five women and one in six men are aged over 64. The number of those aged 100 or over has increased by 4.1% compared with 2013. These are the provisional findings of the population and households statistics issued by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
