#FlyDronesSafely: FOCA information campaign

Bern, 25.07.2024 - Switzerland has over 80,000 registered drones and the number is growing all the time. Where can I fly my drone? And where not? The Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA) is today launching its #FlyDronesSafely campaign to remind drone pilots of the rules and raise awareness of the dangers.

The number of drone flights has increased dramatically in recent years. Drones are now being used for everything from rescue missions and delivering medical supplies to spraying fungicides on lettuce fields, detecting the presence of fawns and taking wedding photos. At the same time, the FOCA is also receiving a growing number of police and heliport reports of unauthorised drone operations.

Unauthorised drone flights pose a safety risk, both on the ground and in the air.

The FOCA is today launching the information campaign #FlyDronesSafely to raise awareness of the rules, using slogans like 'I came, I saw, I flew elsewhere'. The campaign aims to improve safety in specific areas by focusing on common scenarios such as flying over crowds of people, in the vicinity of heliports, and over nature reserves, sports events and festivals.

The FOCA is sharing this information on its website, in social media and on posters. It is also counting on the participation of the cantons, communes, associations, sports event organisers and the hospitality and tourism sector to help spread the message.
